The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore. The address of the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore is 370 Orchard Road, Singapore 238870.

I am making this video and I am making a number of other videos like it contemporaneously with this one to provide some insight to prospective Visa Runners for some general information about the Thai Embassies in these various other jurisdictions.

One thing to bear in mind with respect to this is the process of obtaining a Thai Visa is going to vary from post to post depending on the Thai mission to that given country and the sort of situation on the ground in each given country. For example the Thai Embassy in Singapore often times utilizes an online appointment system in order to get an appointment to process a Visa through that particular post whereas other Thai Consulates and Embassies in the region may do things on more of a first-come first-served, queuing up basis; different practical considerations will dictate different regulations at different posts.

It also should be understood that the very nature of the plenary power vested in Officials of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs who are posted to Thai Embassies and Consulates abroad, the very nature of that Authority provides a great deal of latitude in making factual determinations as to whether or not to approve or deny an application for a Thai Visa or in certain cases request further documentation.

Meanwhile, there is a great deal of administrative discretion granted to Officials at a Thai Embassy, in this case the Thai Embassy in Singapore, to make determinations as to how they want a visa application to look, what evidence they want included in that application and how they are going to process it. In fact different posts use different time frames for example. Some posts take a day longer than other posts to process Visa applications through their given post. I think this generally is dictated by backlog but again it just varies from country to country. So things that may have worked in one country, for example one Thai Embassy in Myanmar for example may not necessarily work at the Thai Embassy in Singapore. So looking upon this overall process as a uniform one-size-fits-all process is not a very good idea because although Thai Immigration Law is relatively uniform in its content and the way it is often times applied, again the very nature of plenary power and this administrative discretion leads to situations where things on a practical level process very differently from post to post.

For those who are unsure how to deal with an application for a Thai Visa through the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, it may not be a terrible idea to go ahead and contact a legal professional in order to gain some insight and guidance on how that overall process is going to work.
